That depends on the owner. Some owners treat their yacht as a hobby and want to work closely with the captain on picking crew, working out itineraries and planning maintenance periods. Other owners just want to walk onboard, enjoy the yacht and then get off and not be involved in the running of the yacht at all. On taking the management UNITEAM YACHTING will discuss exactly what you want and adjust our services accordingly.
2. How much does yacht management cost?
This is determined by the level of services provided by UNITEAM YACHTING. Our packages start at just €500,- per month. Talk to us so we can put together a fee structure that suits your particular needs. No fee is charged for Crew Management where a single monthly lump sum is charged depending on the number of persons employed and this covers all costs associated with the crew.
3. Can a yacht manager save me money?
Yes. On taking over management UNITEAM YACHTING would analyse expenditure to identify areas where savings could be made and make proposals. Budgets are produced and spending carefully monitored to make sure that ongoing expenditure is controlled. For a Yacht Owner facing financially difficult times we can propose ways to reduce overheads to a minimum. Bear in mind we may be able to save you more than the management fee.
4. I am a Financial Advisor and I want to ensure my clients assets are properly looked after.
We are very happy to work with financial advisors and banks who have provided finance to purchase a yacht. We can agree on regular reporting and work together for the benefit of the client.
5. I hear of people running into VAT problems when buying a yacht.
Yes, this is true. It depends on your nationality and how and where you want to use your yacht. Talk to UNITEAM YACHTING so we can help you avoid problems.
6. I have a suspicion that my captain is embezzling me?
The vast majority of captains are honest, however sometimes such things do happen. UNITEAM YACHTING will carefully monitor spending so as to reduce the risk of fraudulent behaviour.
7. My crew keep asking for improvement in their terms and conditions of employment but I am not sure what is a normal standard for the yachting industry.
UNITEAM YACHTING can provide you with advice on what is usual and what is exceptional. We can also provide your yacht with an onboard manual that specifies exactly what the crew are entitled to. This is of course popular with owners, but also with captain's and crew who know exactly where they stand and know that all onboard will be treated equally.
